✅ SOLVED Civil War Era tool?

Hi. I found this piece on the grounds of an old plantation around New Orleans. Definitely is made to hold, but I can’t figure out what it is supposed to be. I don’t even know if the curved piece is supposed to be bent the way it is. Any help in identifying would be appreciated!

Shingle lifter for slate or tar-paper roofs? aka "Slater's Ripper"

And it looks like someone ran into some tough shingles! Or was using it for something else, or just got tired of shingles.

I did slate/metal roofing when I was younger. It does look like a version of the slate removing tool, but looks a little short.Some of the slates I removed were 1" x 24" x 36" & weighed about 30 lbs !
