Civil war gun parts found on the historic battle field of Franklin Tennessee. My girlfriend and I dug these at a permission located on the front lines of the battlefield. We were bombarded with iron tones and decided to start digging. We started hitting sold charcoal and instantly knew we found a trash pit. The pit has turned out 60 whole medicine bottles, tooth brushes, and other civil war items. I’ve tried many hobbies in my life but I’ve never lived anything more than metal detecting. I can gladly say I’ve found my life Ling passion! Keep on digging. 56752C33-8D2A-4EF6-98DD-D4F3E59D2213.webp50178E08-F2F7-49AE-8BBC-6584B7907A68.webp0CC1F8C3-E298-4A21-B5B9-4EED62B7E8CA.webpF9CB484F-95BF-4313-B015-5E1A3B4CC6B3.webp

Wow!!! Very Nice!!! Congrats!!!

What a score! You should probably take that permission owner a batch of home made cookies or something sweet since they gave you such a sweet treat!

They luckily are family friends of ours! We got them a gift card to a few high end restaurants! They have been very welcoming to us & have let us come back over and over again! I think it’s going on month two of searching and we are still bringing home relics!

Great finds! When do we get to see the bottles?

Congrats that is just plain awesome!!! What a great bunch of stuff to find! I second that on the bottles... we need to see them!!!

They should clean nice with a little electrolysis!! 20 years ago I dug my first CW lead and haven't looked back.Best of luck to you all :icon_thumright:

Congrats on the awesome finds and a great permission! Keep posting.

Nice group of lock plates and hammers! And I definitely want to see the bottles from that trash pit.
But, I am having a hard time imagining a CW soldier, from either side, wearing that Junior Sheriff badge (3rd pic) into battle :laughing7: :icon_scratch: :laughing7: :icon_scratch:

Danged if that one hammer doesn't look like it is off a flintlock! Really decent stuff there.

That's really cool a trash pit that's my dream I'd be digging that pit out completely. Amazing finds. Keep em coming. Tommy

I don’t know if my reply posted earlier...

But the junior sheriff badge came from another yard. Obviously it isn’t worth anything of monetary value, but it is special to me because it symbolizes a fun time spent with the love of my life. That was one of our first finds together which makes its sentimental to me & for that it has earned a spot in our relic cabinet.

There's a day you'll never forget!

Great Finds!

That's a lot of great finds. That pipe is a bonus. I feel the same way about my past hobbies versus metal detecting. Unless you've tried it, you can't fully understand just how exciting and interesting it is. Congrats!

Obviously I was just kidding about the Junior Sheriff badge :occasion18:
As you guys continue to dig and accumulate, you will inevitably arrange your displays by era and/or category, and a lot of what is currently in your display case will be replaced by better finds as space becomes limited, except for those special and sentimental finds.
