Hard to tell from the picture maybe take some clearer pictures from different angle and front and back etc...

Looks like an engine part. Sort of like a rocker arm or something primative

It holds the throw out bearing for a clutch. I think.

Not trying to offend with my motor part observation. I didn't have any other info to go on, like, depth, location, what it's made of. I was simply responding to you question. Please provide more info and the educated guesses may turn to identification and not speculation

Oh not at all,
I was just wanting to know if it was civil war or not.

I've rebuilt a lot of engines, never seen any rocker arms that look like this item.

Hello, I wonder if it could be a Civil War fuse wrench. I know there were square slots in the fuses that you would use a wrench to help thread them in tight. Just a guess though. Paul

The one end looks like some kind of spanner wrench, but the pivot point in the middle and what appears to be a bolt/pin hole in the other end makes it look like some kind of linkage.

Looks a kinda like a cannon site!breechsight.webp

It does resemble some clutch forks but I wasn't able to find any that articulated the same as your find. Tried a bunch of different keywords like vintage, antique ,articulating and couldn't find a match, if farming has been done in that area it could be off equipment pulled behind the tractor or even the tractor itself. Do you have an idea on what type of metal it is? Maybe brass?

It's brass

Could be a shift dog from an old transmission?
