Found this in a CW camp about 10 inches in the ground on a hillside... 2

Looks like a plow point to me.

I thought it was part of a plow too but the camp is off the beaten path in the woods, nearest field that is been plowed since the 18th century is about half a mile from the camp, there is a small hole on this artifact as if another similar piece attached to it. All the iron we found in this acre or so of camp is been all civil war this was just one of the interesting irons outta the camp that i decided not to toss away. Also this piece stands up pretty good when laid down on its base.. thanks..

Much of what was once agricultural land is now forest in NH. We have a good deal more trees than we did a 100-150 years ago.

Wonder if this could be an 18th century plow point? I've had it sitting in a bucket for 2 weeks in some chemicals to remove the rust to see if i could possibly see any engravings but can not. The land I am hunting the camp on the land & people dates back to the 16th century, I know when the CW camp was on that land there was no farm field @ that time in that spot but just logged prior to the CW so maybe this is early or even 18th century plow point?? because in the late 18th century and early 19th century this was more of less farm land. i also dug it at least 10-12 inches fighting tree roots to get to it...

I've dug my share and leave most of it where I dug it up or get it out of the field and throw it in the woods, I can't be hauling huge pieces of iron with me hiking through the woods, but I do sometimes take some interesting farming iron with me if i think its late 18th or early 19th century.

I have a question .. With all the digging you say you do, how in the world do you keep your hands so lily-white and silky? Just curious because my hands look like alligator hides, even though I wear gloves most of the time.

Also, I subscribe to a different set of ethics than you do when it comes to,"I've dug my share and leave most of it where I dug it up or get it out of the field and throw it in the woods." That type of behavior has caused many folks to be un-invited and unwelcome.
