Dug this button today, I think it's a musicians button. The back mark says HORSTMANN BROS & CO PHIL, from what I've found that puts it in the Civil War time frame, but I haven't been able to find a picture of one that looks exactly like it. Any info would be appreciated! DSC_4135.webpDSC_4137.webp

I think it's from a band uniform and not war related, but I will let the experts weigh in for a definitive answer.

Def. a musical theme.
Why does there seem to be such a need for everything to be CW related ? It's a very nice, and somewhat unusual button regardless. If it turns out to be military would be a plus.
the company operated 1859 to 1893, so they made buttons for nearly 30 years after the war.

I do appreciate the button for what it is and its unusual design. That being said the area I found it is approximately 20 miles from Gettysburg and finding something CW related could mean there were troops in the area and possibly more artifacts. Thanks for your reply, appreciate all input!

Beautiful old button. You don't see those posted too often.
Congrats to you and thanks for the post,

Good condition, whatever the time period!
