I found this bullet and round steel ball over the weekend at a park in north central Illinois. Found the ball first, and thought it was maybe a ball bearing or whatever, and didn't think much of it. Then I found the bullet and saw the ring around it. I've seen enough 3 ringers on here to make me think CW. Then I got to thinking maybe the ball is a musket ball? DSCF1889 (2).JPG

The bullet is .448 thick by .660 in length.
The ball measures .600 give or take the rust. And it's heavy for it's size. Don't have a scale.

Any thoughts on these 2 items?

Thanks! DSCF1885 (2).JPG

First, the steel or iron ball is not a bullet. Probably a ball bearing. The bullet you show needs to be measured in the nearest one thousand of an inch to find out the caliber, which then helps identify what type of gun fired the bullet.

The bullet looks more modern maybe a 45 colt. The steel ball could possibly be grape shot from a canister canon round.
