Fellow TNet member Todd Lipe took me out hunting on Sunday. We hunted several different places, mostly old home sites. At the first site, I got a large (12" long) broken high tone at about 5" deep. The end of the signal sounded just like a quarter, so I dug a plug, and sure enough a quarter... I figured that I would go ahead and dig up the aluminum can that was right next to the quarter... however, it was not a can... it was more quarters... it turned out to be 20 quarters, all 1976s, some stacked together. I can only assume that some kid buried his half roll of bicentennial quarters in the front yard, for safe keeping.

Other than that, a nurse's pin, kiddy bling, 5 wheats and a Canadian.

Thanks for looking, and good luck on your hunts!

Caches are exciting, way to follow your instincts and score. Sub 8-)

I found a penny cache last year with 99 zinc pennies. Lol

Tom amazing find. Congratulations. Keep digging

Can you imagine the feeling had they all been pre 1964 Washington quarters?

Good job Tom , on digging the rest up ! :occasion14:

Not a bad hunt tom, clad quarters aren't so bad to dig, they add up quick

I thought the same thing. If they had been silver, I think I would have fainted. Todd scored a Merc, so it was a good day for him... however, I went home silver-less.:sadsmiley:

twenty quarters in one hole is a lot better than 1 silver merc in my book.

Good save !!!

Good work digging the quarters! Did you check the dates on your wheats, maybe a winner winner chicken dinner there?
Good deal either way!

Tom,
I'll take one of those quarter "cans" any time! Great finds. :occasion14:

I wish I could dig plugs at $5 per hole. Would make this an occupation rather than an obsession.

wow someones pocket must have been very heavy..grats

Congrats Tom, makes for an interesting hunt! Glad you trusted your instincts and dug that target! I found 16 quarters once in a small 12-14 inch diameter area, my biggest "cache" to date! lol

But you could buy 3 or 4 Mercs with those quarters. So really you came out on top. :laughing7:
