Very possible a WW-2 soldier lost it. Although it has a lot of wear on top, so could have been lost recently, that would be my guess. What area was it found?

lots of american soldiers died on those beaches depending on which one it was (june 6th is right around the corner)---- looks like a military "school" ring of some sort ---the mmf was the mans "name" I'd bet---finding the class of 41 grads names from the military schools and cross matching the names with the m and f (first and last name) would likely produce a "match" if you really want to know that is---Ivan

Are there any marks inside indicating which company made the ring? If so, a photo to them might narrow the school choices down. If no marks, a photo to some of the manufacturer's of today with a story may elicit some help finding out who made the ring and then tracking down the initials with the year.

It could be a worthwhile search.

Do you really think, that soldiers during WW2 were wearing gold rings? :o
If it's not a fake - it's really rare find.
Congrats anyway !!!!

I have no clue where from the ring comes, or what does this symbol means. But I'll ask in Poland. ;)
So, I "borrow" the pics, hope you don't mind... ;) :D

Pozdrawiam Matejko ;)

if it was a officers ring from his military school it would have been gold---he would have been a young man --look at the graduation year he was fresh out of school ---and most likely he did not get much older--- a gold ring was not something he would lose easily he would have been proud of it---he might have died right there on the beaches of france---many american men did ----the german machine gunners on the beaches of france were trained to "targeted" anyone seen "leading" troops in any manner to confuse and demoralize the american troops--officers and non com's were "prime targets" as well as radio men (they could call in air and sea gunnery support)---Ivan

You say the inside is "Tone Engraved" What does that mean?

Are there no more marks inside the ring besides the initials?
