Re: Clean Sweep vs. 12x10"

I read a post some time back of a guy who used the clean sweep coil to only hunt clad. He said he really raked in the $$$ using it. That's probable all you'll find with it because it only gets about 4" depth.
It's something I've wanted to try, I could see where it would pay for it's self.
I would be interested in your results if you do decide to get one.

Re: Clean Sweep vs. 12x10"

I had a clean sweep hooked up to a Silver uMax that I used at the beach and didn't like it.

It's detection depth was too shallow for the dry sand.

I'd recommend the 12x10 instead.

I used a cleansweep with a few different Tesoro machines. A depth demon it ain't, but the coverage is awesome. I found enough to pay for it pretty quick. I've only tried the 12x10 on my Golden and it screws up the tones. The depth wasn't all that better than the stock 9x8.

The only thing I don't like about the cleansweep is it throws off the balance of the detector.

Re: Clean Sweep vs. 12x10"

I have the 3x18 and the 12x10 for my Silver Umax.

I can't argue with the statements about the depth or the coverage of the clean sweep. I will add that pinpointing with the clean sweep is a breeze.

I found my best ring in the dry sand using it.

I'd say go for the 12x10. Wondering what your missing depth-wise is no fun.

Re: Clean Sweep vs. 12x10"

While the Clean Sweep covers lots of ground in a hurry it only gets near 6 inches in the dry sand and less in the wet. I had to turn down the sens a might while using it. The 12X10 inch would be more versatile with more depth and less coverage so you would have to over lap lots more equals less sand covered in a hunt.

I have read in some books about using a very large DD coil that the detector performed better when the sensitivity was turned down.....Have any of you guys tried that with this 3X18 cleansweep coil?

Lots of guys don't know how much better the detector operates with reduced sens with all the coils. They crank it up thinking the are getting max depth but it is like using your bright headlights in the fog. The detector sees more minerals to mask the target.
