Clean this possibly gilted buckle or leave it with a green patina?

Hey all,

Okay, so I have this bronze(?) sash buckle that has a cool green patina. However, in spots, it looks almost like it has gold gilt beneath it.

After toothpicking it clean, I decided to rub some lemon juice on one of the back corners. It came through looking pretty goldish. See pics (it actually looks more goldish in person).

Anyway, I'd like to know your opinion: would you soak the whole thing in lemon juice and give it a light scrubbing to bring out the gold/bronze/whatever it is on the highlights? Or would you leave it - and display it - exactly as is?

I value your votes!

Thanks -

I think I would most likely leave that one green. Does appear to be some gilt, but also lot of spots that would be brown surface metal.

I think anything drastic would just leave you with a brown looking mess. The patina is nice to look at and give the aged look very well... Most people don't want to to see a relic looking brand new
