Cleaning aluminum

I dug a WWI era dog tag that is covered in corrosion and made of aluminum. Any tips on getting it off without damage to the tag? Any tips would help. Thanks.

Don't use Works

But i had success with using an aluminum cleaner....it got the stuff off without too much damage...

Thanks Goldencoin, I'll try to find some cleaner at the store. I just didn't want to damage it.
