Found at new site. It resembles a winding key. It's iron. Maybe a shutter dog type hardware? I didn't get to really comb the place it was standing water in a lot of places and like a swamp. We have had so much heavy rain lately

Great pic. As I recall the square hole adjusted the side clamps and the hex cutout was for adjusting length on the underneath. I think. Maybe. It's been awhile.
