A Cobbs blade, I found a couple of weeks back.
It’s right at 3”, and shows no beveling. The first of its type i’ve seen with a notch on the base.. Winona county Minnesota find

.... that is an odd notch, kind of like an inclusion in the material got knocked out and that is what is left.
Really nice blade for your collection. You had a great season overall I think..

Very nice cobbs, I have not seen a cobbs with a center notch.

Does the notch appear to be knapped from a single side or both?

That was a creek find? Along the bend of the creek shown in the photo?

The “notch” appears to be take from one side.. I can’t say if it was intentional or not. But, being nearly centered, I’ d say intentional… this was found near the creek, on the slope, near the fallen trees rootball
