Hey, first of all hey to everyone out there and thanks for the replies to my other post. I've another question. Switching from a 9.5" to a 12.5" coil; how much depth is gained and how much sensitivity to small targets is lost (using disc. mode)? Thanks for reading.

I went from a 9 inch to a 12 inch on my DFX. I gained about 3 inches on small objects, but I didn't lose anything on size, if anything it got better

My experience with using larger coils hasn't show me any noticeable loss in sensitivity on coin (even dime) sized objects and i've seen depth increases from an inch to several inches depending on just how big a jump in size. The main things against the larger coil(s) in my mind are the problems concerning separation in trashy areas and the extra weight while swinging. Also, some may find pinpointing more difficult with a large coil. My two bits.

With a 14" DD Detech coil I notice a loss of a small coin known as 5 Öre made in the 1972.
(approx 18 mm in diameter, 1.4 grams copper)
And similar coins of course.
