Hey everyone, sorry it's been a while since I've posted.(altho I have been keeping an eye on everyone else's finds... Great work, mine seem like nothing in comparison to what I've been seeing on here.) Work and life got in the way of detecting. Anyway, got this in my change the other day and it caught my interest. It's got a curve to it and another nickel fits the curve. Question is..... Mint error?, Or post mint damage? If it is a mint error, is it worth any more than face value? Thanks, and happy hunting to all!
P.S. I'll post a few summer detecting finds soon, just haven't had time.

Yes that appears to be a clip. Nice find!

Looks like a clipped planchet to me too. It does have extra value, i just am not sure how much extra, I would guess a few extra dollars worth.

The clip is somewhat minor. Due to the insufficient detail on your pics, I will not opine on whether the clip occurred when the planchette was punched, of if the coin was cut post mint. One makes the coin worth a few bucks to collectors, the other makes it worth a nickel.

The only detail that your images show that supports clipped planchette over post mint cut is the arc of the clip matches the arc of your other nickel. This is a very good sign.

Time for coffee.

worth $2-3 bucks 8-)

It was done when it was punched out. I see the Blakesley effect on the opposite rim.
