Fisher 555-D, 1265X, 1270, Tesoro (ORG) Silver Sabre
Found a 2001 S North Carolina Quarter, never knew of an "S" mint mark just P & D, Internet says Clad Proof or Silver proof, any info out there on this quarter? It's Clad

Im going to take a guess that its from a proof set. Dont spend it. Nice find.

It's an S mint so it's from a proof set, it's just a matter of whether it's a clad proof or a silver proof. You should be able to tell easily by looking at the edge of the coin and/or giving it the "drop test".

My quarter proof sets came like this. I have a bunch of these Im going to sell on eBay.

Mine says silver proof set. :dontknow:

Yes good idea just show us the edge.

Unless your dirt is particulary bad on silver, it appears to be copper-nickel. The drop test will tell you for sure. How unsual is it to find a proof? VERY. Without the "S", I would have been skeptical. Let the bell of freedom ring! If it sounds like the Liberty Bell, not silver.
