Here is my CoinStar Surfing Log!

I have my 3 year old trained - he loves to check the Coinstar at every opportunity. Last trip to grocery store we found a 1943 P nickel and a few clad. We also recently found a 1962 Canadian quarter on top of the machine. CRHer in training!

shoulda put a Homer Simpson strangle on the future felon miscreant yout :laughing9:

Some have a unique style! Good luck!

did you check it with a magnet? I do not know the cut off dates any more. But if it is not attracted to a magnet it is silver.
But pretty sure a 62 would be silver. It is probably the 1970s coins that some were silver and most were clad.

1962 Canadian silver quarter, 80% silver. No 1970's Canadian silver that I'm aware of.

You would know more about canadian silver than me. I see you are just a tad away from the border compared to me.

When I was buying coins at yard sales before I moved away from SoCA I would get more Japanese yen than Canadian. I would buy all the yen I could. I would offer 25¢ for 100 yen and get it all the time (100 yen = $1.00) Also if I saw 500 yen.

I know you are asking yourself why would I buy yen. My wife goes there every year and I go every couple of years.

My 4 year old son and I drive to the local winn dixie to check the coinstar every week. We also buy cakes, pies, cookies, donuts, and any number of tasty desert treats. Needless to say my son loves these adventures. He calls the coinstar "the treasure machine" and he knows where to look for the "treasure money". I dont know whats more fun checking the coinstar, or buying the cakes and pies !! Daddy really likes treasure, cakes, and pies !!!

I'm in lower Michigan, while I roll hunted between 2009-2014 I accumulated at least 150 silver Canadian dimes from different rolls and boxes. Like you mentioned, I am closer to the border.
