A really good friend of mine who I got into hunting back in the early 80's decided he wanted to give me his collection. He said if it wasn't for me he wouldn't have any of it so he felt I should have it. I was shocked, humbled, and overwhelmed. Here are some pictures of just the riker mount trays he had. I'll post the rest in the comments. I've counted up to 2,000 pieces and guesstimate 2,500.

This was all found in Scioto and Lawrence counties in Ohio and Lewis and Greenup counties in Kentucky.

Here's a few random pictures of pieces I pulled from boxes and coffee cans. If you look closely you can see he labled almost everything.

He had to be a serious collector to find all of those nice points and related artifacts. What made him walk away from them? I hope it wasn't his health going bad. They have a good home now.

Just life made him give it up. He had kids and once they got into sports he was coaching and then he started umpiring softball and doing football so he just didn’t have time.

Great to see the close ups. Are those polishing stones or ceremonial(?), really like those. Great array, he put together cool frames.

Thank you. One of those is a Hematite Cone, the cone shape piece of course, and the other is a Hematite Loafstone. There is no real solid theory as to what they were or what they were used for.

I?ve been trying to get everything out of the Riker trays and into some wooden trays. Here are 6 I've finished.

Nice job Steve!

Now all you have left to do is add an addition on to your “Man Cave” so youhave enough walls to hang them on

Wow! What a collection!

There are many 10s in there.

Knowing the provenance and context of the whole collection makes the gifting so perfect.

The new frames are outstanding! Too much to take in all at once.

Here are the last two frames I put together. The first one is from the Goldcamp Site in Lawrence county Ohio. The second in from what we called the Dow Site. About 5 separate fields that surrounded a Dow Plant. Also Lawrence county Ohio.

Those 2 sites must have been occupied for a long time. Lot's of drills & tools in those frames tell me they were pretty permanent sites. Is that a bear tooth?

Yes it is. We found several Bear Teeth there but none that were drilled. We found a lot of smaller Canines that were drilled though.

And yes, both sites were occupied a long time. I saw a Clovis found right in the middle of the huge Ft Ancient Village Goldcamp Site. Right in the middle of all the midden debris. There were two Paleo Lance types in this collection from the Dow Site and both are heavily ground.
