Colonial among the wheats and Indians, I’m overwhelmed.

Trying a new spot close to the sidewalk, second hole yields a 1906 IHP, third hole a 1944 wheat cent. Next signal yields a broken brass ring that once put it barely was picked up by the detector. Next came the letter I, seems to be bronce with lead backing, and some loops, any ideas ? One hole reveals two wheat pennies 1945 &1946, but also a 1883 Indian, spill ? Could there have been 1880s Indians in circulation with mid 1940s wheaties. Saving the best for last I’m a city park hunter I’m lucky if I find Civil War or earlier. Midway through the hunt got an iffy signal that turn out to be this beauty Its a colonial wax seal with initials and what looks like a fox or lion by a pond. Initials seem to be JFW, but not sure any input is appreciated. HH and GL to all.

Tough one to date exactly, but its circa mid-18th C! Nice seal!

Indian head cents of all dates circulated heavily along side wheat cents with only the odd collector paying any notice to the dates .

I seen post with spills of indians and wheats, but mainly teen wheats, but thanx for the input.

Beautiful wax seal! One of my bucket list items! Considering that cents from the 1950's-1960's are still very common to find in change, 50-60 years after they were made, it doesn't sound crazy that a cent from 1883 would be in circulation in the 1940's. In fact, I found an Indian Head Cent from 1859, in pretty good condition, in a roll of 50 cents back in 2012. I only bought one roll of cents too, and I was lucky enough to buy the one with the coin from 1859!

Whoa, that thing is cool! I found an 1897 Quarter in a Spill with with 1924 Quarter that was probably lost in the 30s so you never know how old of coins you may find together. Heck, there are still "Indians in circulation" technically, just not many. Nicely done!

Yes u are right, the oldest coin I found in circulation was a 1910 wheat, but know people that have founds Indians just like u say. From time to time ill come across a buffalo or a silver dime, or even a quarter.
