Hi:

While at work I was showing a co-worker a silver ring that I dug up last week. She was impressed and we started talking about metal detecting. She then discussed with me an item that was unearthed as some land was getting cleared on her property for her house. I dont remember her exact words but I felt she was describing a cannon ball...though not the typical round one. I live in Up State New York...though from the Deep South..(I miss it). She will attempt to locate the item and send me a picture. When she does I would like to send it to anyone who may have some knowledge on these things. I was also informed that her property is next to a guy who owns around 100 acres of land...possible battle site.

What I need to do is first look at the item..then start researching to see if there was a battle in her area. Just looking for some possible suggestions from everyone. ...I have yet to learn how to post pictures on this site >:(

All you have to do is use the "Browse" button below the add images section. Then pull up the picture wherever it may be stored on your computer. Maybe the Desktop or My pictures etc. If you picture is too large you will have to resize it but that is basically it. I look forward to seeing your pictures. If you need help just ask there are plenty of people on the forum who would be glad to help.

Maybe a Parrot artillery shell? Good luck and let us know the outcome. HH, Mike

does she live near water? bar shot maybe? not round humm -- colonial not CW

Hi:

What is interesting is the shell or shot is not a ball, it appears to have some type of flair to the end of it. Of course this is all based on the co-worker and how she described it to me. We both work at a prison and she is the computer guru and I had her pull up this site and others. She saw similar shells and feels that I may be correct. I am really hoping to get a little detecting in before the weather turns bad. Once it gets cold and too hard to dig, then I will do my research on the area. To be honest, I am dying to see what it looks like also.

Good luck on your research and I hope you get to hunt her's and her next door neighbors land! HH
