I got out with the two dedicated detectorist nephews. Colonial Kirk Pa, Colonial Zoyboy and Colonial Silver Zeus were quivering with anticipation all week with what was still waiting at Kyles latest research site that we began 7 days ago. We all remember what a day that was. Bam, Bam,Bam. Three Coppas in 30 minutes for me today. Two confirmed King George III's. The other one is a counterstamped large Coppa. I can't make out what it was before the counterstamp though. Oh well it is a very unique find nonetheless. Many relics and a mountain of broken pottery. 5 colonial buttons and 2 Injuns. The one injun is a 1864 AU condition. The other looks like a 1888. I'm not sure because I only glanced at it and said very Johnny Walter like " I'll be damned". Ole J.W. would have approved of this site even though he probably wouldn't have done this site because of his River stipulation. No river here folks.
Kirk topped off my gas tank as usual and Kyle never ceases to amaze with his on the spot research. I won't steal my partners thunder but I will say that we all left that place believing in a detectorists heaven.

The counterstamped coin is a confirmed Draped Bust Largie (30 minutes in my tumbler)

WAHOOOOOOOOO, zoyster oyster boy, we had a suuuuuuuuper awesome day. I now believe that this has been the BEST site we've ever hit!

I love that counterstamp coppa, and the other KG coppas are just priceless. I think the counterstamp might be a Draped Bust, though, looney boy!

You were simply amazing with 3 coppas found in less than 30 minutes...simply AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!

Zeus,

You frickin' rocked today! I think it was more like 3 coppas in 15 minutes! :D

Those King Georges are AWESOME! We are definitely on a metal detecting roll.

Hmmm...there has to be more OLD wilver here! :D

We must!

Kirk :coffee2:

Re: Colonial Coppa Heaven

Wow. All I can say is Wow. A five coppa day for the three detectateers. Great job. Let us know if you find anything else out about the counterstamped coppa.

Re: Colonial Coppa Heaven

Oyster boy, we must try to find out what the "IBN" stands for. Doesn't Mr. Zoyke (Burke) have a book on counterstamps?

Indeed he does my Happily Gibbonistic Biscuit Boy. I'm looking forward to showing him. He gets Suuuuper spastic when I show him a counterstamped coin. To him it's like the best find possible. I can dig it.

I smell more Colonial wilver, don't you? As Larry Miller would state, "I found tons of silver, boy." :D

Re: Colonial Coppa Heaven

Beautiful finds!

All 3 of yinz.

Re: Colonial Coppa Heaven

Love the CS coin! I have several but haven't dug one in quite a while.

Re: Colonial Coppa Heaven

CSZ,

I hope Mr. Boyk can identify the counterstamp. This is the 1st counterstamp coppa I have seen in awhile!

I have a feeling that there are MORE coins to be had!

Kirkevans :D

Re: Colonial Coppa Heaven

Nice,

Keep @ it and HH!!

Re: Colonial Coppa Heaven

CSZ, I think I might have found the item that the settlers would counterstamp the coins with. It is quite heavy, and is broken in two spots. I see the letters "B A".

Here is a picture of it.

Fantastic copper finds for sure. You guys are tearing that new spot up big time.
That stamped "IBN" coin is a very interesting find. :icon_scratch: If it were "IBM" it could have possibly been the very first computer chip. ;D
Very nice IH too. You three rock.

P.S. I ordered the A700 today.

Thanks Rob, I know man, I recently busted out of a similar drought. 7 or 8 weeks worth. You did find a barber dime though. I also didn't count my barber quarter that I found as a serious find. Remember when we were looking for them. Now I call them collateral damage. I still appreciate them but i'm not deliberately pursuing them. Oh well I have confidence that you will be hitting the goodies again soon. Keep trying man.
