I got out with the two dedicated detectorist nephews. Colonial Kirk Pa, Colonial Zoyboy and Colonial Silver Zeus were quivering with anticipation all week with what was still waiting at Kyles latest research site that we began 7 days ago. We all remember what a day that was. Bam, Bam,Bam. Three Coppas in 30 minutes for me today. Two confirmed King George III's. The other one is a counterstamped large Coppa. I can't make out what it was before the counterstamp though. Oh well it is a very unique find nonetheless. Many relics and a mountain of broken pottery. 5 colonial buttons and 2 Injuns. The one injun is a 1864 AU condition. The other looks like a 1888. I'm not sure because I only glanced at it and said very Johnny Walter like " I'll be damned". Ole J.W. would have approved of this site even though he probably wouldn't have done this site because of his River stipulation. No river here folks.
Kirk topped off my gas tank as usual and Kyle never ceases to amaze with his on the spot research. I won't steal my partners thunder but I will say that we all left that place believing in a detectorists heaven.

The counterstamped coin is a confirmed Draped Bust Largie (30 minutes in my tumbler)

"I'll be damned". . .

You and the Colonial Nephews really dug some serious copper  That counter-stamp is awesome!
Around here, If I ever found ONE large copper bigger than a Lincoln, I'd have to change my pants :D

Sweet "coppa" dreams ,

Any chance we could see an "after tumbling" picture Chris? Which side is the counterstamping on?

The counterstamp is on the bust side. Tumbling revealed the hair on the front and the bottom of the wreath on the back.

Thanks Sentinal. Kirk and Kyle came over to my house last night to talk about the day. During this discussion they both informed me that I found the three Coppas within 15 minutes not thirty. If that's the case than this place will live in infamy.

Excellent finds! Nice "collateral" 1888.

I wish that Tombac was whole and not broken--it'd be a Dandy. :D

Keep the Passion HIGH!

I know Buckles. That button would be one of my finest yet. It's a shame.

Have you identified the piece on the right hand side of the "buttons photo" yet?
