I found a virgin cellar hole a while back
and this one keeps on giving.
So far I have been lucky enough to find
8 colonial coppers about 50 tombacs
and flat buttons and my first cut silver
that I posted a few weeks ago. I never
thought I would top the cut silver especially
With something like this but I guess that's why
We love this hobby so much , you just never know
What you are going to find next ! This coin is a 1799
draped bust large cent she is in rough shape but very beautiful to me !!!

That is valuable even in that condition don't do anything to it

The US mint was only in operation 4 or 5 yrs. when that coin was made. Amazing. Gary

The thing that I thought was amazing is George Washington was more than likely still alive when this coin was minted .

Nice find! This might be a dumb question but I've noticed a lot of great cellar hole finds lately. Are you guys finding these relics in the cellar hole or just nearby? I've hunted several cellar holes but never found much in them.

Outstanding ! Rough shape or not, at least you can get a date off of it, and your right, its yours and that's all that matters.

That’s awesome. Nice find

Congratualtions on the awesome old copper recovery! :occasion14:

I have been finding everything away from the hole . I actually think this was more of a ,livery or store . The main house is still there and is actually a beautiful home . I am finding all my goodies about 100 yards from the main house but but there is about an acre of grass and tulips that were out of place in the woods.

Not a colonial coin, but one of the most sought after large cents. What a great find!

Super good find!

Get it graded , which and more importantly by getting it graded, it will authenticate it , and keep it protected.

Its in poor shape but that doesn't matter seeing how rare it appears to be.

Dont clean it, keep it just the way it is.

Plus its much easier to sell once its graded by a top grading company.

I mean you could turn that small chunk of copper in to a bunch of silver or a piece of Gold.

Or not, since rare coins tend to increase in value over time, but not always.
