Colonial Silver in "just five more minutes..."

As busy as I am, I always try to find time to hunt. Haven't been since last Sunday but the rain got me out to an old spot. I had a half hour and needed to make it count. The Washington quarter and Indian head got me primed for something great, problem was I was out of time. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1443736255.916162.webp

I allowed myself 5 more minutes and within steps I was latched onto a 12-40/41 signal, choppy, but at 9". I dig, found a handful of dirt containing the object, and I dump it. Here's what I sawImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1443736368.719953.webp

I'm pumped but still don't know what it isImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1443736392.817534.webp

Holy moly I am stoked!

Yep she's worn but I like 'em better that way. What a great year for me with Spanish silver!
Enjoy, happy hunting, and next time take that extra 5 minutes!

Steve

Oh PS- I'd like to give a shout out to Carolina Tom for the lucky t-shirt he sent me that I happened to be wearing today. It featured a picture of a flying eagle cent he found on a hunt with me. Thx Tom!

Congrats on that century trifecta!!!:notworthy:

Nice post...nice post. That's the way I think many times...a little more time...a little colonial silver. Nice find.

aj

It's so addicting right?! I wonder how many people on here have been wicked late by staying just "5 more minutes"?

1775 one real. Good job Steve!

Thanks Steve. Didn't think this site had much more to offer up but holy smokes! Kind of makes you wonder what we all miss...

Steve

i dont know why i bother...i might as well sell my detector and just watch you! lol awesome finds once again Scrap! im a five more minutes type of guy too!

You're finding silver like that at an old spot and I have done 3 new permissions in a week and can't even get a modern silver:BangHead:
I need a lucky shirt!

Talk to Tom about a lucky shirt. I know what you mean about permissions tanking. I've worked several permissions that didn't produce anything that took me several months to get. It's a crapshoot Dave

Wow way to go!!!

Awesome reale Steve! It's only happened a few times to me, but seeing thin silver like that come out is a rush. That's a fantastic quick hunt you had.

Brad

Thx Brad. Yep the thin , smooth silver rim is always an exciting thing. Although last week I popped out a Canadian 5-cent "fish scale" from 1886 that I thought was a reale for a minute

Steve

Great one Scrapperoo! Spanish will always get me out of hibernation....or working 80 hours in Vt 8-)

Short and sweet, that's what counts.Congrats on the silver Scrappy.

Dang , You guys and gals back East are spoiled - you were "primed to find something great " after finding the Silver Quarter,
and the Indian Head cent ! I'd have been Jacked to find those !!! (The Spanish is the the icing for sure !)

Lol. I was totally stoked about the others. It's just like comparing a beautiful woman to a supermodel. One just a little nicer;)

Ok, now you're just showing off!

Great hunt Steve!
Always nice when you pull out spanish. Looks like we are going to be rained out for a few days..:-(

Funny how, thin smooth silver is just as exciting as large reeded clunky silver... Heck, toasty copper works for me just as well!

Congrats on the awesome Spanish silver... the quarter and IHC aint bad, but slightly overshadowed by the colonial silver.

I thought that I rubbed all of the good luck off of that shirt before I sent it to you, I must have rubbed the good luck "into" it. Hate it when that happens!

Best of luck to you my man!

Excellent job Scrappy! I'm wondering why BKT is sending t-shirts to the guys in PA and I haven't gotten one?

I've hunted for 300 hours this year and have yet to find one Spanish silver. Congratulations!
