Colonial Silver in "just five more minutes..."

As busy as I am, I always try to find time to hunt. Haven't been since last Sunday but the rain got me out to an old spot. I had a half hour and needed to make it count. The Washington quarter and Indian head got me primed for something great, problem was I was out of time. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1443736255.916162.jpg

I allowed myself 5 more minutes and within steps I was latched onto a 12-40/41 signal, choppy, but at 9". I dig, found a handful of dirt containing the object, and I dump it. Here's what I saw ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1443736368.719953.jpg

I'm pumped but still don't know what it is ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1443736392.817534.jpg

Holy moly I am stoked!

Yep she's worn but I like 'em better that way. What a great year for me with Spanish silver!
Enjoy, happy hunting, and next time take that extra 5 minutes!

Steve

Oh PS- I'd like to give a shout out to Carolina Tom for the lucky t-shirt he sent me that I happened to be wearing today. It featured a picture of a flying eagle cent he found on a hunt with me. Thx Tom!

Great Spanish silver:occasion14: Congrats:thumbsup:

Hey thanks. This site has been very good to me over the last six months, and I've found many amazing coins. The finds have dwindled and I was hoping for one GREAT find before I moved on. This coin was it and I'm so happy.

If you had any idea how many times I've said "Just five more minutes" to my hunting buddy when he wanted to leave. I say it all the time. I've never filled that five minute gap with a Spanish silver though. Glad that worked out for you. :laughing7:

Haha yep, I'm betting most of us say that. Then often enough that 5 minutes is rewarded so we do it more and more. Its such an addicting hobby...

You worked hard for that find Steve, and you have the dirty hands to prove it. Congrats on recovering that little piece of history.

Even in New Jersey these Spanish coins don't appear every day. I think Dr. Tones found Spanish silver way out west somewhere so it's always possible to find one in MN.

Good luck

Steve
