Colonial Silver in "just five more minutes..."

As busy as I am, I always try to find time to hunt. Haven't been since last Sunday but the rain got me out to an old spot. I had a half hour and needed to make it count. The Washington quarter and Indian head got me primed for something great, problem was I was out of time. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1443736255.916162.webp

I allowed myself 5 more minutes and within steps I was latched onto a 12-40/41 signal, choppy, but at 9". I dig, found a handful of dirt containing the object, and I dump it. Here's what I sawImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1443736368.719953.webp

I'm pumped but still don't know what it isImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1443736392.817534.webp

Holy moly I am stoked!

Yep she's worn but I like 'em better that way. What a great year for me with Spanish silver!
Enjoy, happy hunting, and next time take that extra 5 minutes!

Steve

Oh PS- I'd like to give a shout out to Carolina Tom for the lucky t-shirt he sent me that I happened to be wearing today. It featured a picture of a flying eagle cent he found on a hunt with me. Thx Tom!

I'm actually more like a 5 past dark guy... Mostly because of the LED on my garret carrot.... :-)

Great one Scrapperoo! Spanish will always get me out of hibernation....or working 80 hours in Vt 8-)

Heyyy there's our buddy! Welcome;)

Sorry to hear you've been working so much. 80 hours doesn't leave you much room, or daylight for that matter, to hunt. Are you still working on that giant chalet lodge you sent me a picture of?!

Great hunt Steve!
Always nice when you pull out spanish. Looks like we are going to be rained out for a few days..:-(

Thanks Georgie. Rain sounds awesome after a summer like we had. Let me know when you're in my area next. I just about have an awesome late 17th century spot all set up with permissions. I owe u a hunt (or two) lol

Funny how, thin smooth silver is just as exciting as large reeded clunky silver... Heck, toasty copper works for me just as well!

I'm actually quite easy too. All silver excites me, especially when you know it's silver but dont know what or how old. With this find my first urge was to wipe it, but I snapped that first pic before I had any idea what it was. Then I used water to wash it to avoid micro abrasions. I def savored this find! Lol

Nice Spanish silver, one coin that still eludes me!!! They've been found all around me, one day!

You know,,,, Essex County, New Jersey ain't that far from me,, lol
Congrats on a hunt that would have made me very happy

Congrats on the awesome Spanish silver... the quarter and IHC aint bad, but slightly overshadowed by the colonial silver.

I thought that I rubbed all of the good luck off of that shirt before I sent it to you, I must have rubbed the good luck "into" it. Hate it when that happens!

Best of luck to you my man!

Haha, the t-shirt did it man!!! Yeah! Lol

My wife asked what the hell I was wearing and then asked if my obsession has finally come to wearing coin t-shirts. It was perfect;)

Excellent job Scrappy! I'm wondering why BKT is sending t-shirts to the guys in PA and I haven't gotten one?

He knew us yanks don't get things like that from other yanks and we would appreciate it more! Lol.

Did you see the ones he sent?

Steve

Here is my one..

My wife is horrified

You mean you are actually wearing that??? Lol

That's what the old lady said. But even you George can't argue with my 1-reale accessory! Lol

They mocked Andy Warhol too Scraps. You just keep on marching to your drum...

That's cool, a little nerdy but still kinda cool lol

Lol...well...I think the shirt suits my obsession. My sons third or maybe forth word was "coin"... My daughter asks me when I get home if I found any silvers. I'm a lost cause.

But at least we're getting some good rain huh Chris?

We are getting rain! Nice Spanish silver! I have not found anything like that up here in North Jersey, but I keep looking. Congrats on a great hunt. ( the quarter and Indian penny were great also)
