I was looking at some sports fields on Google Earth and spotted one that looked like it had potential, so I swung by after work today to scout it out. It was surprisingly trash free and my first find was the large pewter button. I was elated, but not surprised at the find in the middle of the field. Over the next 90 minutes I dug everything you see pictured from the field, but not one coin!

I will be heading back in the morning! I hope it is not soccer season yet!

Luv those Soccer fields......reminds me of Wendt Beach here in western NY....were the soccer fields are up front there was a War of 1812 Militia outpost and an old home site about a 100 yards from that. Found a number of colonial buttons , coins and militia (eagle and artillery) buttons.....

Keep on Digging!!!

I think everyone must have been a tailor in colonial new jersey. I find the same things at every site...plenty of buttons and thimbles! This thimble is much smaller than the usual ones.

That's pretty cool to make finds like that in a modern sports field. I know you'll be headed back there soon and find your coin - hopefully one whose age matches the other finds. Good luck!

It's just a soccer field with some adjacent fields. Could be anyplace in the tri-state area. :D

It is a hike from you, otherwise I would invite you guys.
