Mikey couldn't get out till 9am and could only hunt till noon.this trail runs between 2 colonial homes and the owner of the house said it was an old paper trail?not sure of the definition of a paper trail and what it was used for?
but we worked it and his yard some.
so many targets and not enough time.
at the end of the hunt we thanked the home owner and chatted a bit.come to find out theres an old cellar hole way up the trail

he said he's lived in the house for 50 years and nobody's ever detected it guess where we are going tomorrow! :tongue3:
dug some clad,6 wheaties ,a musketball,a lead cat and the find of the day for me is this bridle rosette with a old eagle motiff.military perhaps? a shame its so damaged
i'm droolin at the possibilty of this cellar hole being a virgin spot

Not sure if it will be military but I like it!

I like it also. I would like to see some very clean pictures of the detail of the eagle design to compensate for the patina and bends.

It looks like a very skinny and early eagle to me.
ok i had the rosette turned the wrong way.
looks like the eagle's in flight and a shield under his talons. small lined wavy or rolling line going all the way around perimeter.in second pic you can see the wavy borderline to the left of shield point

Great finds! I think it looks military, but I am no expert.

Looks like a great site!

Great find --- wish you many more. Site has very good possibilities.

Looks at "least" early 1800's (possibly earlier).

A nice find. Looks like a mid 1800's rosette. I think it's more patriotic than military though

Boy I sure missed this one! That is a gorgeous engraved eagle! The craftmanship of the old stuff always amazes me. Congrats.
