All Treasure Hunting
You all have been along for the ride with Bill and I the past few weeks. Having a full time job and family obligations only allows me to hunt usually once a weekend and a few times in the evenings after work when daylight permits. With the winter days, this means I only have been able to get out once a weekend, and sometimes then not even for an entire day.

In December we had a fantastic recon day, finding relics and securing permission for a few pieces of property. This being one of them, it was just by chance that it was the first one we tested. We had done plenty of poking around the area and research and felt more confident to start here.

I don't think we have even hunted this place but half a dozen times so far. As Bill mentioned, finds have slowed a bit, but that is just in this one particular section of it. When first tested we found items scattered about and have not gone back to those locations yet.

These are my finds (minus a gallon size bag of misc brass and lead items). I think I am somewhere in the neighborhood of 130-140 buttons. 9 "keeper" coins (5 silvers, 4 coppers) along with a few other more modern coins. I have a handful of bullets, plenty of shoe buckle parts including 1 complete show buckle. I have dug a few military buttons as well, including a CW Staff, General Service, and Navy button. I also located the VMI, the War of 1812 Officers button, and the unidentified pewter "1st" button.

Other interesting finds are some killer early buttons (flanking the silver coins). Some of these are early Spanish, some date to the 1600's, and a lead ball button. I've dug plenty of bullets, buckles, and two nice matrix "wax" seals.

It has been fun, and we have plenty more to come!

Classic early occupational site finds....that must be a dream of a area to hunt, it reminds me of the Roman Villa site I found, finds coming up all over the place, over a different span of time...Great Stuff :icon_thumright: I bet you dream about the site all the time :laughing7:

Indeed...been guilty of falling asleep at night thinking about the finds made and what are more to come. I have had the good fortune to hunt sites like this before (with exception of the hammered silver coins). Part of why I gave up hunting solely for Civil War sites and concentrated on colonial era sites about 7 or 8 years ago. Just so much history and scope of finds.

Great post Dan! And I love how you're displaying your finds. Hard to believe we're pulling all this from one field, and we're far from finished with it. It would be icing on the cake if one of those pits we've been saving is loaded with early glass and pottery. As with you, this site continues to consume my thoughts and its getting more and more difficult to wait for a week to pass before we can make it back there. Really looking forward to Saturday. Again, congrats on an awesome assortment of early finds.

You did great

Wow, what a nice haul! Congrats on a phenomenal site!!

I have no words to show my feelings! In our aera we are lucky to find a wheat penny.

Well displayed, well worded and visually stunning post Dan. Keep The early finds coming, I still think a tree coin is hiding on that acreage.
