Please allow me to introduce myself,Im a man of neither wealth or taste.
I have picked the name username "bag and drag" but my real name is Seldon.
I live in southern West virginia and hunt a 100 mile radius of my home except for when I travel anywhere for business or pleasure, then I poach at will.
this addiction hit me in july of 2007 when a link on another forum took me here and I was astounded to learn the truth about silver half dollars and how they are still out there in numbers,as a matter of fact at first as I read posts i was skeptical and thought you guys were mostly spouting off about finds.
so I gets me some cash together and decided to give it a shot myself.I started with the local banks one day and picked up maybe $100 worth, took them home and actually found a small handful of 40's.I'm like WOW! it's real these people are not just jerking chains!
Second day I go out was about the same until I hit my branch of my bank and asked for halfs, teller says she has four rolls in the vault and I buy them and take them home.OMG! I get four solid rolls of 64's plus about $20 in 40's.my wife was incredulus as we both have been into pm's for some time and thought all the silver was long gone from circulation and had never bothered or even thought about looking in rolls.
So like everything else I do Ijump in the fire with both hands and feet, get a couple thousand dollars together and hit every bank within a half days drive.By september we got a pile of silver that I could barely pick up!.our biggest problem we had was finding the cash to replenish the grubstake and the fact that all the banks were cleaned out.It also seemed that no one else was onto the the trick around here.
Next we move on to boxes and I set up schedules at three banks for $1000 each per week.HOLY COW! I simply couldnt belive what came in.average boxes contained 10 or 20 silverclad but we got many with 100+ and some true treasure boxes with over 300 with a good percentage of 90%.I've actually gotten two seperate treasure boxes from two different banks on the same day.Ive also gotten 18 hand rolls marked silverclad that were exactly as marked as well as a couple of rolls marked "franklins" and was thanked for taking them off the bank hands.UNFREAKIN' BELIVEABLE!
To date we estimate that we have searched a half million coins and did very well for the first year. begining in mid 2008 the silver began to dry up in the boxes and we started to see some of the same coins from the early days, also the banks on my route began to tell me that other people were asking for halfs and I started to pick up alot of dumps.
I still do the boxes and road trips every month or so but the take is only a fraction of what it once was, three skunks in a row are now the norm and a box with 10 is a good day.Alas I think this is the eleventh hour for CRH but we cannot bring ourselves to quit (addictive personalities) and as I type this at 5am I am mapping out my road trip for today.
I have read this site every day for the last 18 months.the reason I have never posted here is because I'm dislexic and even though I read and handwrite well keyboards are a great challenge and typing is a very slow process for me so I never bothered because of the time(this post has taken over an hour)
so to end this rant I would like to thank everyone on this forum for being so generous and sharing information,it has been a wealth of knowledge ive collected here an from now on I plan on sharing with short posts.
gotta go for now Im planning a two hundred mile round trip and the banks open at 9:00
