Nice day for compacts! I'm sure you would have posted anything found inside like a gold coin or something, LOL. HH, Mike

Very nice digs !!
Just goes to show ya never know whatcha gonna dig up :)

Doozis

That baggage tag might be rare!

Most of them got melted down during WWI and WWII. Even if it's common, it's an excellent find!

Congratulations!

Good hunting, teverly.
Were you at an old store?

No back yard of a house across the street from me.I know the guy that lives and helped him pull acouple of trees out yesterday.
He reseeded his yard a couple years ago and said he found all kinds of old glass and some old silverware.

Nice going, tev!
love the compacts :)
chance of a re-hunt ???? :)

Love the rail tag!!!!Old luggage tag?

Thanks everyone..
Im not sure if the railroad tag is a luggage tag or not.Fairly large and says property of erie railroad company.I thought maybe it was used to mark some kind place or material that the company would use..Maybe railroad ties,or boxcar door????
If anyone out there has any knowledge of the rail industry or collects this kind of thing let me know...
and my neighbor said i can hunt any time i want.. ;D

Hey T, those compacts must have rung out loud and clear. I think my M6 would have read OVERLOAD. Most of the time I don't dig overloads so I guess I wouldn't find those kinds of things. Pretty cool finds.

It looks just like a baggage tag. I can't see the whole tag, but the shape of your tag looks like it would slip through a leather strap with a buckle.
Here's a link.

Hold onto that tag! :D

I'm almost 100% positive it's a baggage tag. Can you tell me the exact wording (lettering) on the top of the tag above the hole. The Erie Railroad was first established in 1832 and used and/or absorbed many names such as Erie Lackawanna,The New York and Erie,New York, Lake Erie & Western Railroad. As far as I know it was known as The Erie Railroad Company from 1895 through 1959 when it became known as the Erie Lackawanna. So you know it is at least as old as 1959.

it says:
AM.RY.S.CO.NEW YORK

Congrats on those great finds. That railroad tag is really something special.
