Complete 1800's lock

Did a quick hunt at a new permission site. It's very large but looks very promising. Multiple houses were once located on it. My favorite find of the day is the complete lock but found a few other goodies. I wonder what the big anchor thing is. I was thinking maybe for a horse harness or possibly a button of some type? Any help would be appreciated. I can't wait to get back and do a proper hunt of the property. Thanks for looking! [emoji2]

The back of the " big button " looks like the backs of rosettes I have seen posted here. Seems odd that horse related items would have a nautical theme though, doesn't it?
Beautiful old lock. I have only found a face of one that still had the cover but was so rusty it couldn't be moved without fear of breaking it off the lock.

Love the lock!!

I just found an old lock a couple weeks ago, mine from an old Colonial site. Mine turned out to be from Western Maryland Railroad.

Congrats on a Great find!!

I was thinking maybe a horse rosette at first out of the ground. The area is right on the ocean with big fishing history so maybe the nautical theme is a possibility.

I didn't dare play at it much but it looks and feels like it might work. Now if I only had a key that fits I would give it a go! [emoji2]
