I have Nero Photosnap Viewer Essentials that came with my computer. I have Windows XP. I have been moving my pics there to crop and resize because it is user friendly.

Now for some reason when I click on edit, the list of options that included cropping and resizing are no longer there and I cannot go back to them. What has happened? ??? :(

Does anyone else use Nero?

Maybe it was a trial version that you were using and not the full version? I dunno. Hope you are able to get it figured out though.

Ive been using it with no problem for about a year.

Maybe the photo is read-only. Is it on your hard drive, or the camera (mem card)? You can check its attributes to see if it is set for RO (right-click on file -> properties).

Have you tried rebooting?

Nero does a few different things...I would assume that you are in the part of the program that deals with images versus, say, video?

Have you done any new installs or upgrades lately?

Have you run a virus scanner and a registry cleaner?

Do you still have the original software so you can re-install it?

Are the menu items just plain gone, or greyed-out?

You might try running disk cleanup, defragging, and if that doesn't work, system restore to a date when it last worked.

Otherwise, if you want to mend Nero photosnap you can try uninstalling and reinstalling it - you may need to do that from Nero Essentials if it's not listed in add & remove program list.

However for me, other than PC Paint, I use PhotoPad Image Editor. You can crop, resize, and do a whole lot more and view the final result before saving it. And best of all, it's free.

Below is example.

OK thanks. It will have to wait until later. ;D

Go check your tools and/or options settings, don't forget to look it up under that mystery button. (?)

Best advice, kill anything Nero on your computer (bet you can't) and get a new photo editor.

I dont know much about computers but Ill try to answer these questions. I love this Nero program and have been using it to crop and resize my pictures for at least a year. It is very user friendly but now it wont work. Yes Im trying to resize images. Yes Ive rebooted many times. I dont know if the menu is plain gone or greyed out but I cant see it or use it.

I found out that Nero was installed by my brother when I bought this computer from him. I found the original software CD titled "nero 7 essentials." I guess the best way would be to uninstall and install again. :icon_study: I will try. Is there any danger? Thanks Beep.

The Nero tools/options effects menu is what is missing. Nero Photosnap worked the best for me and the easiest. I really dont want to get rid of it.

Well then it's either gonna be found in the help directory or perhaps the view settings. Good luck!

If its been about a year maybe the trial/subscription period lasted a year and it has disabled part of itself. If you want to re-install, go to Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs -> find any Nero related stuff -> Remove -> Reboot -> Re-install. Shouldn't be any danger.

This program is complex, but it is awesome (and free) -> GIMP -> http://www.gimp.org/ ...kind of a shareware PhotoShop.

I dont think its a one year subscription because part of the menu works. There are three pages of menu/effects under tools and the last page still works. Thanks.

Take a look at picasa. I think they are up to version 3 and it is an easy freeware program distributed by google. I downloaded it for my aunt and she used it to resize her pictures of dogs to put on a web site. If she can use this program, anyone can use it and it's free.

Also, uninstalling and re-installing the program won't hurt a thing.

"Start"-"All Programs"-"Accessories"-"System Tools"- then you'll see "Disk Cleanup" and below it is "Disk Defragmenter"

Goto http://www.freeserifsoftware.com and download "Photoplus". Much simpler, much better, and totally free. All you do is register, they send you a key, and its yours free forever.

Better solution, but takes more knowledge about photo editing is The Gimp. http://www.gimp.org - You can get windows or Linux version (comes bundled with most Linux Distros anyways). Top Notch program, with plenty of filters and effects too.

Hope it helps.

If you are really happy using the program and do not want to get rid of it, there are a few things you can do. 1 uninstall it and then reinstall it, you can try to just reinstall it over the existing installation, or you can use your system restore and go back in time to before you had the problem.

Thanks. I tried disc cleanup and it didnt work. I think Ill uninstall and reinstall.
