Any Ideas? I'm curious about the cone shaped object with the wierd markings. I found it on a site where I found a colonial era axe head. More modern junk as well though. Also wonder about the lead shot. I wonder if it might be my first worthwile lead find. The cone shaped thing has the remains of a wooden dowl in it and what apears to be a hole to fasten join it. It has a wierd scrolling on it. ???

I think your right nebstater,i forgot to post the info with the picture... Decorative brass tip from a British naval officer's "swagger stick," late 1700s to early 1800s. 5.2 grams, almost 2" long and 3/8" at its widest diameter. This conical tube, decorated with an ornate design with a crown in the center, was affixed to the point end of a wooden wand, known as a "swagger stick," typically about 18" long, used by officers to point to a sailor's bad dress habits during parade or at maps to show battle orders, etc.

Now that's a GREAT ID!

Well done, Relicdude. :)

Just a Wild *** Guess, on your cone item, but it looks like the end off of a "swagger stick". They're fairly common in the military. Had one on my "short timers" stick that I brought home from Nam.
Very good "wild guess" nebster. Exact match with the pic Relicdude.
