Cool retail find

I work retail in a small mom and pop shop. There are two registers but we haven't used the 2nd one in over a year. I open it up for the first time in a lonnnng time to look at the change. Right away I see a wheat penny. I thought oh cool another one for the pile (I must have 25$ face in wheaties my grandfather left me).

1909!! I looked pretty hard under bright lights to check for an S or V.D.B., none were apparent alas.. Made my hour lol. The day prior I found 2 wheat cents, a 1949s and 1944. If I don't find 1 wheatie per day it's unusual. Also came across a 1941 and 1936 nickel.

an '09 wheat and a '36 buffalo are great unexpected suprises to find in change - and without any real searching. With all the cent rolls I've searched I still haven't found anything older than a '17 wheat yet.

Ha, your doing what I do every time I get assigned to the register. Over the last year I have found numerous wheats, a 1951 quarter and a couple of rosies in the drawer. We get a lot of our change in clear brinks wrappers and I check each of them when I relieve the prior operator and also most of the hand rolled stuff too. Ya never know.

Looking forward to the Christmas rushes as we go through a LOT of change so it will augment my CRHing.
