Reminds me of the carnival workers that come to town once a year for the county fair. They used to eyeball coins and wallets and stuff on the morning they were ready to leave. The last few years some of the carnies have used metal detectors to find stuff that they used to only eyeball. One time I went to detect the fairgrounds the morning after the fair closed and a carnie guy chewed me out for being there with my detector. I told him that my tax dollars paid for the land and the fair and that he was the one who really had no business detecting the place. He backed off a little and moved to another area of the fairgrounds. I don't know what he found, but I hit a spot where they tossed quarters into fishbowls to win a goldfish. And apparenlty the people tossing the quarters had lousy aims. I made out pretty well that day. LOL

When I was a kid we used to ride our horses down by the Potomac and all through an old amusement park called Marshall Hall in Southern Maryland.It dates back to 1885! I heard it's now Gov. Property.Boy how I would have loved to detect that place.Another good site now gone forever.

Wow that place look's to be the motherload ! Hey i thought the Gov.was supposed to work for the people ! So tell em to let ya detect or there fired !

I remember many decades ago when I was a teenager my friends and I would go down to the County fair each year. We would all hang around the penny arcade tent and waste our dimes shooting rifles into machines. We would of course lose a few silver dimes in the sawdust. After leaving the tent I remembered that this arcade tent was set up in the same place year after year. So after the carnival left town I returned to that exact spot over the penny arcade with my detector.

I thought it would be fun one day event detecting over this spot about the area of a large house. Not to be as I ended up detecting that one small spot for several months. The coins were so thick that you couldn't dig a hole without having multiple coins surface. Each day you concentrated on a small area and to remove as much trash as possible. Besides the thousands of coins, a gold pocketwatch and several crushed rolls of silver dimes(behind the operators booth) were recovered. As this was in the mid 60's clad coins were rare(If I found one I would show it off to my friends).

Yes those spots were indeed out there.

Spent em didn't cha ! I wish clad was still that rare ! But were i like to hunt clad isn't a problem !
