Sure.. It is a TV show.. However they present it as a serious treasure search show.. I only watched the first episode of season one and then that final episode. It was pretty poor attempt at treasure hunting and finding from what I saw. I certainly will not be tuning in for season 3.....

Well it does seem to be a serious treasure search show, imho.

There's research, top level people involved, top line equipment.

Maybe why most is people call it treasure hunting, not treasure finding.

We have done 406 excavations this summer. The position of every one was located and recorded with a rather expensive GPS and a log sheet.
We can go out tomorrow, drop a buoy on the numbers from today, set up and blow hole 407 right next to 406, or go dig 407 next to number 51.
GPS locations stay the same. Drive a spike in 9 feet of sand and see how many storms it stays through. It is going to want to sink to bedrock just like iron rigging, ceramic jugs, silver coins and gold rosaries...
Different folks do it with different strokes. The point is to keep smilin' and keep strokin'...

Oh...and Darrell Miklos wins the award for best equipped expedition ever.

I like that drone that can hit the water and show you what's down there.

Of course, from the surface. But my point was they were free swimming far from the vessel. You dont need it to last years, just so you can find it the next day, if you return the next day or soon.

I caught a glimpse of Treasure Quest, down in Bolivia, they blasted out an underground tunnel that had been sealed, started finding coins..then flashed back to the beginning of even putting a team together to go down there, very, very frustrating. I stopped watching then. wtf

In my previous posts, I mentioned marking locations underwater when diving. It doesnt matter if you do or you dont, but if I found some gold nuggets when free diving, I would so that I could find it again, even on the next dive, it all starts to look the same. My comments were that while free diving, far from the boat, if you wanted to find that location again, you would have to mark it.

There were Bahamas authorities on Miklos' boats? As in 2013 permit with John Mosko and with the Bahamian police and archeologist.

though I was guessing,

I took it to mean ballast Piles from Many Wrecks. Piled on top of each other.

But can't a Ship Drop their Ballast in order to Get higher & avoid Wrecking ?
Making some of The Ballast Completely useless for Wreck finding.
Yes Jeff, and they also jettisoned cannons when needed to decrease draft.
Good call on the ballast being tossed over.

I wonder if he has gone back to investigate his "USO" or sunk UFO he saw in the coral ? Maybe he will do a spin off from Cooper's Treasures to Darrell's Death Star :dontknow:

The MIB have already recovered that craft and totally swept the entire area clean so, nothing of interest remains, ha ha.

What are they using both Minelab Explorers & Aquapulse detectors?
Personal preference? I thought the Aquapulse was substantially better.

From long experience:

There's nothing like good GPS numbers.

I've tried to find stuff in the pre-GPS era and it's very hard; a hundred things can and do go wrong and waste a lot of time.

I suspect there was either a personal difference in opinion, a sponsorship issue? or...well...the Excalibur LOOKS a lot more exotic...

SO... I Thought you were Referring to Coopers Treasures Not Oak Island.

I deleted all 3 Episodes of Oak Island last night.
I figured they were reruns of what happened over last season.
will wait till next week to start watching Oak Island.
