Thanks.

np, looks like the older head around 1750

Is there a site that has examples of all the George coins? None of my books have them.

Nice copper. Glad you got a quick ID :icon_thumright:

As I suspected, although I did say around the 1740's.

Don't really keep a good log of sites I visit, unfortunately... In general, when I'm looking for an i.d., i'll just type in what I think it may be on Google and click the images button.. then modify the search until I find what I'm looking for

GEORGIUS 1740-1745

GEORGIVS 1746-1754

PS... A broken George II is a good indicator it could be a cast counterfeit. They snap much easier than quality copper.

Thank you! I believe it is counterfeit, it came up very funky on the E-trac.

Wouldn't be a surprise, but not being round, and if at an angle in the ground it could have that effect, not a sound you would expect. Regardless, it's looked at as being a George II Halfpenny and whether counterfeit or not really doesn't matter on that particular one.

Nice Dave. Was this using the WOT coil?

Yup. I've been using the WoT exclusively. It's a monster. Can't wait to get the "Joey" for the fall!
