One side has an eagle with a shield and the other side has what appears to be George Washington. There is writing on the rim of it but can't make out what it says. There is some hard core crust on this coin. What can I do to get some of the crust off? :help:

I'm not sure what it is. I would guess a civil war period token. You could try peroxice and if that dosen't work olive oil should take the crud off with no damage. It might take a while though. I don't use olive oil much as it seems to leave a film that is hard to get rid of. Hopefully someone will have a better idea
