tumblr_nkprwpMDxe1shd9xeo1_540.webpjust found this the other day and learned what the odd corner was for. questions are, is this type of blade particularly rare and/or valuable even if the tip is broken? thanks in advance!

1320 that type Flint from Texas can look like it was knapped a couple days ago and be thousands of years old.. I had to research that at one point it's pretty common to have all those hinges on it also

I was pretty sure I'd seen some KRF or Root Beer finds in the past that were very clean, thanks for confirming it.

Very nice find. That would be a banner find for anyone (no pun intended)

No problem haven't seen you in awhile hope your doing well

I find some in the creek here that look like they were just done even though they are thousands of years old. The water keeps them fresh but yes that type of flint is very hard to tell the age. It sure is a nice one Id love to find one but they didn't make them here.

Cool find. It looks like it's got a bit of the classic curve to it that some of the larger knives have & amazing quality material. It would have been a stellar example if it were complete. (The type that is usually kept on the do not touch shelf, locked in a millionaires do not touch safe...)

Broken, it's just as cool but it isn't something that I'd worry about insuring. If you don't find a lot of flint, it's brittle stuff when it hits tile floors or other rocks, so keep it separated and enjoy the find. Gomer could do a nice job making it look good, but many collectors just skip restoration. (e.g. I'm cool with it on purchased relics, but I don't need it on personal finds.)

Awesome find!!

wow, I figured it was a decent piece, but I am really encouraged by everyone's responses. I think I need to add arrowhead hunting with my bottle collecting regime...

Good ground is good ground and usually has been for a long time the type of low water conditions you look for bottle hunting quite often are perfect conditions for hunting arrowheads and other artifacts also

Man that would have been a killer Knife. Great Find!!!........................GTP

I totally agree GBoy....that is a very nice piece, even with the tip gone!! I would have that tip restored in a heartbeat!!
Big ol' tang knife
I know a lot of folks who would have Dr Gomer repair the tip you couldn't even tell when he was finished
