Could this be a bead?

Hey yall! Just came across this interesting shell on a site that has yielded mainly early-mid archaic points. There are quite a few shells present at this site but this is the only one of these I’ve ever found. I believe it’s called a Cowrie shell. Any info/opinions would be greatly appreciated! Found in Iredell Co, NC

yes cowrie shells were used as beads the world over, so perhaps. some good info here...

It's more likely to be an historic bead brought from Africa by slaves than N.A.
