Could this be Indian?

Found this in an old farm field in the area where an Indian village was along a creek. It's not iron I'm thinking either copper or brass. It rang up 37-39 on the nox.

Great grandfather bought a painting to the Cabildo in New Orleans to be appraised. He went back to get it and it had "disappeared". He was heartbroken and angry. Not a damn thing he could do.

It's probably hanging in some Uptown mansion and touted as great uncle so and so.
