Another wintery detecting day. Just staying lucky I guess, the weather is up and down lately, and mostly down on detecting days!
Dressed for the weather and hit a couple of fields and made some typical finds, nothing noteworthy but I have the feeling it just might have been the last hunt for the year. I'm looking forward to getting back to some old favourites and finding some new fields in the spring!
Good luck out there fellow hunters, hopefully, if you haven't hit a great one this year, there's still a chance for you!

Very nice finds, weather is still good here in Jersey, I just hope some day to be as spoiled as you.

Nice round up IH, I am hoping for at least 2 more good weeks. I'll have to talk to the powers to be.

Man, I hate corn fields!
To find anything beating your coil around in the stalks is beyond me, put me out in the beans and I'm a happy guy!
It will only take one great spot and you'll forget how awful the corn is lol

It just plainly sucks when they leave the stalks from the cob down left in the field, without rolling them down, beans are the best for sure.
It's the last year for corn as going back to legumes then tilled back in so the swinging will be a lot easier not that there's a whole lot coming out of there for finds.

I don't think this is the end yet IH. I remember on my first year hunting I was so hooked that I bought a 5 pound sledge and a mortar chisel and tried hunting the frozen ground...didn't quite pan out...

Ok guys you're scaring me now! lol

I'm all for taking it down to the wire too but I've learned when to say when.
I can assure that when those coins and relics are locked up tight in the cold earth, they ain't going nowhere until you get back in the spring.

.

Picks, and chissels, just don't sound like any fun at all. Cold fingers bad enough.
38 days left in 2013, I'm certain I'll get to take advantage of a couple of them.
Not a bad hunt at all, quite a few targets, and your coppers are not toasted.

No , you're right, it's not done just yet. But the last couple of hunts IP and I had you would think otherwise. I'll be in northern Ontario for the next while and when I return its sure going to be a crapshoot but here's hoping!

Was it you that broke your chisel into pieces?

I know for a fact there's excellent hunting in NJ, we are equally spoiled if you ask me, hopefully your research puts on an older site sooner rather than later , best of luck

Yep, if you gotta pick and chisel your targets out , you certainly have to be very choosy on what you pick to dig, it takes a lot effort to get that lowly chunk of brass or lead in your pouch

No problem finding targets, thats for sure, better than a ride home with empty pockets lol

Yea I checked today with a drill makin jumprings for chain mail.
My backyard is un penetrable maybe the mding season is over. :(
Waaaaaaaaa that's no fun.

Dam you winter!!!!
