Couple nice hours in woods....

Hunted the edge of a swamp for a couple hours today. Because of the poison ivy and bugs I wore long everything and it was hot! I don't know why, perhaps it takes a while to concentrate but it seems I seldom make good finds for the first hour. I would blame it on the machine "warming up" but I guess with solid state everything that would be silly. Found some CW and modern lead, one mystery item and a small amount of trash.

Any CW find makes the day for me!

Very nice and congratulations! I'm with you on the Civil War relics. They are such an incredible reminder of the history of the United States that I prefer them over coins of any kind. Well done!

while some of this country are doing their best to deny our past history including various parts of the CW, I still think that it was a very important part of our history and is exciting stuff! Very cool too!

You've got a great area to hunt, your relic case will fill up quickly over time. If you are finding 5 or 6 bullets every hour, then throw in a button or buckle every now and then, your collection of CW relics should be super in a short period. Congrats--JB

JBnNC... 5 or 6 bullets an hour is faster than the norm for me. I've got an interesting spot or two right now but I'd say a bullet an hour is more like the avg. and I cannot seem to find a button this year. I found over 40 old buttons last year and have only found 6 or 8 this year. One thing is that the areas I'm in now have relics deep and I guess I'm less likely to find a button at 12" than at 5" no matter what machine I'm using. As I turn the frequency up the machine gets chatty and I can't really make out those squeakers and I need the Freq up to find the deep small stuff. I'm a work in progress. Can't have it all,,, yet anyways.
