I understand that there are many varieties of manzanita, and I have seen some beautiful things made from the kind in your area. The manzanita where I live are only small shrub like bushes.

Juniper is difficult to work with but one nice characteristic it has is that it does not check (split) much as it dries. I only work with dry seasoned wood.
