Detector(s) used
Deus, Deus 2, Minelab 3030, E-Trac,
Primary Interest:
Relic Hunting
Not been able to get a long enough break to get away to do any detecting off the property so I try to grab an hour or two a week to keep the mind fresh. Well today I finally popped a little spill worth one and a half pennies from the bush line on the property. It's such a good feeling to dig something nice once in a while instead of the shot gun shell ends, 22 cal. casings and the untold amount of iron that mostly nothing just digging to dig something mostly. This one spot is nail infested tried with the CTX a few times and the Etrac so today I thought why not try the 5" coil? A hour later and totally frustrated with the lack of putting things in the right spot I found a new 8" Stealth coil:dontknow: forgot I even owned it :laughing7:. So on it went and off I went into the nails, forgot my earth magnet which comes in handy for sucking up the iron out of the hole. So after a couple of hours, I had a bunch of nails, one knife blade, one round piece of shot, and then the 12-42 in the nails out come a 1820 Bust and Harp ( half penny) token, and under it was the 1837 One Penny Token. They're both in a quick bath and will post up better pictures.
Thanks for looking

It is nice to see these tokens coming out of the ground this time of year, well done.

If our tokens were that old and nice.......we'd be some happy campers!!!!! Nice looking tokes.

Very cool spill!

those are some great tokens, nice job!

Who wouldn't want a spill like that one!? I was hoping you were gonna say you found them with the 5" coil because I just got one and haven't used one before.

I'd love to put the 5" to work on the spot if I could find the thing, old story-set it down and something gets set on top-or a I'll remember I set it there type thing. It's with my Leache digger that I can't find.
One thing about the 5" coil OD is, it's like painting a house with a little artist paint brush, seems like it takes for ever to cover any ground, but great in a spot where there's too many targets and sniping the good ones out it works well.

Those tokens are cool, I'd be all sorts of happy to find those. Big old green tokens! I find Chucky Cheese tokens... not nearly as cool...

Here's the 1837 cleaned up a bit, I'm happy to see it still has pretty good detail on the token. Still working on the other token as it has some crud encrusted on the face.

You'll just have to wait 150 more years and the Chucky Cheese tokens will even be cool.:)

Very nice token finds Jim! :occasion14:
The detail on the 1837 is really crisp, the two examples I've found have either been very toasty or worn out. :laughing7:
I'm looking forward to seeing the detail on the Bust & Harp you found!

I'm in Kingston tomorrow night, don't think I'll be doing any detecting though... as both knees are now hurting!:sad11:

I think the Bust & Harp is going look a little like your token on the left Dave, kind of the well done look. :)
Sorry to here that the other knee is giving you grief as well, you'll have to take a rest from all the detecting duties.

It's one of those coins that I never tire of digging, and the one penny being 34.1mm it's a nice big one coming out of the dirt.

Great looking tokens.

Those are really nice, and I love your in situ pics ....
