Went out searching for a Confederate camp that has eluded me so far. Came across a bunch of foundation stones from an aged home site. Dug a ton of big iron, and a few keepers. Eagle plate front (post Civil War?), squre nails, harmonica reed, milk glass doll head, 3 tine fork and an item that I haven't IDd yet Looks like a holder of some sort. Moved to the well hunted Yankee camp late in the evening and managed four bullets and an interesting button, I'm guessing civilian.

Killer finds and great plate. Found one like it myself today. Pictures to follow tomorrow.

awsome finds and that PLATE IS AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe your plate may be a pre-Civil War, 1850s militia plate. The pattern has more in common with the 1874 version, yet the construction is closer to the pre-war style. Not sure if they made panel style plates at that point, but it is a possibility. I don't have my ID books here with my in my travels, but someone will be quick to help you out. That is a great find!

Best Wishes,

Buckleboy

Nice plate, some day I might come across one, nice find. :coffee2:

Keep digging Brian, they are out there.

Glenn,
You are a relic hound dog. Way to go on the nice plate and also the CW lead.
Good luck finding that elusive camp. If I know you it will only be a matter of time.
Congrats,
Doug
PS - where is that rare Kum-A-Part button you dug? LOL
