Cousin ED finds a COB ?????????????......Sorry I,m still a NEWB !!

[AQUA]

HEY GUYS AND GALS

Haven,t been out much last 3 weeks ....fishing season is keeping me busy and always seems to be something happening when I get a day off.

So we made it out today back to the spot where I found the Cartridge Plate.

There was bear shiat everywhere and the mosquios and black flies were terrible. But we stayed for 2 hours....ED found the Canadian 25 cent silver and I got the coppers and heel plate...also the nice religous pendant was kinda nice.

However.... none of them items points to the time period of the Cartridge Plate... kind of a mystery.

The COB ?? Cousin ED found came from a different site a few days before when he made it out by himself.... we had found a couple buttons and a Spanish 1742 coin in this area a few weeks before.

We have never seen a COB before ..... but is the only thing I could think of it being...or a cut Spanish ?

The intertwined snakes he found close to his house which is old.

1400s...that doesn,t fit in with the history books of North America.

Reach in your pocket from time to time and you'll find coins 50 years old. I know of several coins from Ferdinand and Isabella found in North America. Most of them come from the west coast believe it or not. I know a guy who found one and then another cut in half in California. Take a look at the early English coins found at Jamestown. They predate the settlement by 50 years. They're out there.

Not much of a stretch from there to find a late 1400s coin.

You're right GW, there are some real oldies out there but they're only going to be found at the earliest sites. And many of those are undocumented so you have to do a stellar research job to get yourself close. After that its all luck.
