One last story that I'm reminded of...
It's not a happy story....
I had a job offer in Kentucky, and I lived in Kansas.
So, money, always what it is,
Me and Caesar (my Kitty Kat)
packed it up and I spent every dime that I had to move
to an apartment paid as maintenance personnel.
The first night in my new apartment, in Lexington,
after 10 hours of driving a medium-sized Y'all Haul,
and Caesar, on Vet prescribed downers,
I had kicked back to enjoy the last bites of my sandwich,
obtained from an all night grocery store somewhere in Indiana a few hours ago and noticed that
Caesar was "coming 'round."
Well, it was a rainy night, and I thought that maybe he wouldn't go far....
So, I let him out the back door for a minute to pee....
I stood inside, in the kitchen, finishing my sandwich,
then looked outside for Caesar.
He is nowhere to be seen!
I spent the next 4-5 hours in the rain, in a strange neighborhood looking for Caesar.
No luck...
I went back to my new apartment and fell asleep.
When I awoke the next morning,
(after only about 2 hours)
I went out the back door to resume my search for Caesar.
There, at my feet, a mere yard from my back door, lay Caesar.
I took him in and dried him off and lavished him with milk, treats and goodies.
He wanted none.
The next day, I found a veterinarian and took Caesar in.
The Vet told me that Caesar's organs were shutting down because he had drank discarded anti-freeze.
It was best to end the suffering.
I cried and said that I wanted to bury Caesar myself.
