Wow, brilliant find! Amazing condition, huge congrats! Banner worthy for sure ;-)

Banner! To sell or not to sell...that's your decision mate. Great find.

Luke that is NOT considered a "clipped corner' buckle. Here is and example of a clipped corner buckle. Clipped corner buckles are typically sheet brass with the corners clipped to take away the sharp points. Gilligans buckle is cast brass and that style CS buckle is known as the "sardine can" style.
Ok. sorry about that I was thinking different.

Sweet find. As much as I love all things cool, I'd probably sell it if it were me. That thing has got to be worth a nice stack of cash

Spectacular find! Nice going.

Very nice CS Buckle! Imo confederate relics are by default banner finds

Beautiful,,, I thought a CS buckle was akin to finding the holy grail, when it comes to relic hunting.
I don't know your reasons for wanting to sell, but I would try to hold onto it for as long as possible. Great recovery.

That is one very nice looking buckle. If it were my dig, it would stay in my case with a spotlight on it.

nice find !
too bad your post reads like an ad and a What's it worth Post,
instead of a Today's find Post :tongue3:
it may have gotten the Votes & earned Banner

That is an awesome find to be sure. It really is an amazing find and likely not one you will find again...if I were you I would hold into it...it's like money in the bank!

I was confused as Luke said clipped corner, and you gave the example from the book of clipped, then stated Sardine Can. Having read a few descriptions that can be both ways like in these links.

The one from Champion looks thin and pressed, while the others Gilligans and the pinterest example look like they're casted.

A CS buckle is quite an amazing find. Congrats on the find and I hope you get a good price for that beauty.
